Living Local!
Events and Resources

The next Living Local will be a collaboration of the Vineyard Energy Project, Island Grown Initiative, Vineyard Conservation Society and the MV Agricultural Society called Living Local Harvest Fest on September 26th and 27th.

The mission is to enhance the quality of our lives and the vitality of our community by inspiring an Island-wide transition towards a more sustain¬able local economy. In the face of uncertain energy supplies and environmental change, we aim to nurture conservation of resources and local production of renewable energy, healthy food, and other necessities.

The event will begin with a Friday evening talk, and be followed by a full day of workshops, forums, and demonstrations, culminating in a potluck supper and music in the evening at the Agricultural Hall in West Tisbury.

We hope to offer unique opportunities to learn, share, and exchange ideas with the local businesses, organizations, and individuals that form our community, and to inspire individual and community action. Topics will range from “how-to” sessions on home canning and composting, to discussions about issues such as the economics of renewable energy and an integrated Island-wide waste-management system. In addition, kids’ activities, entertainment by local talent, and an on-site farmers’ market will take place, as well as displays by local organizations and vendors. Food prepared from Island-grown ingredients will be sold throughout the day.

Planning is underway. Please check back for news and for requests for participation.

If you wish to contribute to the event, please send checks to the Vineyard Energy Project.  Support is much appreciated!
