Board and Staff

The Board
The Board of VEP is comprised of Richard Andre, a former international executive and current business consultant; John Christensen, a retired merchant ship officer, past President of Sail MV, and Adjunct Instructor of Marine Transportation subjects at Mass. Maritime Academy; David Damroth, an energy advocate, former Vineyard contractor and Selectman; Ted Danson, an actor and seasonal resident; Sue Hruby, a retired business executive who currently serves on the West Tisbury Capital Improvement Committee; Paul Pimentel, an energy systems engineer with 40 years experience in energy efficiency and renewable energy systems; Kate Warner, an architect & renewable energy consultant; and Susan Wasserman, President of the Martha’s Vineyard Community Services' Board and the Friends of the West Tisbury Library and active in League of Women Voters.

Paul Pimentel is currently the Chairman; Richard Andre is the Treasurer and Susan Hruby is the Clerk.

Staff
Kate Warner, Director of the Vineyard Energy Project, is also the founder of Under the Sun, a design and consulting business that specializes in solar systems, energy conservation and efficiency, and renewable energy outreach, education and advocacy. Kate Warner is an active member of the community, and has served on many island boards including the Cape Light Compact and the Martha's Vineyard Commission, our regional planning agency. She was nominated by the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust for the ASES "solar woman of the year" award for her work in promoting solar energy on the island.

Kara Gelinas will be joining VEP as our School Coordinator. Kara has been student teaching at the Charter School and is now ready to provide the energy education assistance that Nan Doty designed and has administered over the last number of years.
